Bigfoot in Mr. Mike’s Backyard: Follow-Up on Lan Lamphere’s Internet Radio Broadcast

Cutting through several hours of radio-show-host anger and ranting was hard, but I’ll put that aside and get right to the story you’re waiting to read about. I wish Lan Lamphere had done the same because in the end, when he finally got to it, I found the Bigfoot sighting information to be fascinating.

This last weekend Mr. Mike, whose location is still confidential, got a visit from two Bigfoot researchers, Jack and Jeff. The researchers contacted him, phoned several times, then arrived to find out that Mr. Mike’s property does not border the woods and in fact, is in town.

They found Mr. Mike to be a genuine, decent, honest and sincere person of about age seventy-two. He takes care of his sister, who has dementia. Mr. Mike, when younger, was a hunter and a military serviceman.

That evening they set up cameras in Mr. Mike’s yard. Of particular interest to this story, they used a FLIR camera which looks at a spot and measures differential temperature between the heat of that spot and the background temperature. In other words, it shows objects invisible to the eyes.

Jeff told Lan that when he approaches habituation sites he expects the reporting party to have a fragile mental state and that these people are always treated with respect. Lan asked if habituation sightings are common these days. Jeff responded that they are. Habituation refers to sightings that are repetitive in one location.

Jeff and Jack showed Mr. Mike some Bigfoot videos and Mike responded that they would get more good ones that evening. They said that when they returned with their equipment that evening, Mr. Mike was emotional. At 10:30 or 11:00 PM he recounted his story accurately. He spoke with utmost sincerity regarding what he believed was happening around his home.

However, that night, according to Jack and Jeff, nothing happened. No Bigfoot showed up. Then, they said, Mr. Mike mentioned that the Bigfoots were not there every night. By the end of the night he’d been convinced that what he thought he was seeing wasn’t valid. It is unclear why Mr. Mike’s story was discredited at this point. Theories mentioned were dementia and macular degeneration.

Jeff and Jack found a small hot spot with their FLIR camera.

As mentioned before, the FLIR camera is heat-sensing. They said they found a hot spot but that it wasn’t a Sasquatch. They believed that Mr. Mike is a decent person who sincerely thought he was seeing Bigfoot creatures in his yard, but that there was “no way in hell there was a Sasquatch in those woods.”

While I was listening to all this, I was in a chatroom full of other listeners. At this point one of the people in the chatroom, Winona, mentioned that the Bigfoot Mr. Mike saw might have been in a different dimension. I am open-minded about interdimensional theories of Bigfoot life, and agreed that perhaps because of Mr. Mike’s advanced age he’d developed an ability to see something that isn’t normally visible to all of us.

The plot thickens.

A few moments later Lan told Jeff and Jack that unknown to them, he had cameras installed in the trees on the property, and immediately before they got the hot spot on their FLIR footage Lan’s camera photographed something shadowy and about nine feel tall in the same location. The implication was that the creature was in the process of vaporizing when the FLIR camera sensed a tiny bit of heat.

At that point Lan told us about a Bigfoot sighting he’d had as a child. He said he clearly saw a Bigfoot around ten feet tall. His father and sister saw it as well. Apparently his sister became hysterical and his father reached for his gun and planned to shoot it. The Bigfoot turned and took two steps then vaporized before their eyes.

My thoughts on this matter

1. We cannot at this time prove that Bigfoots can travel interdimensionally. However there have been many reports of this nature and as an open-minded researcher I am fascinated by the possibility.

2. Mr. Mike may be able to see things others cannot. We’re all aware that some people have psychic powers and abilities others do not have, and there’s no reason to think this could not extend to the arena of Bigfoot sightings.

3. Both these possibilities are not unheard of, and I won’t discount them. So… the attempts of some bloggers to discredit Mr. Mike and to call him demented may be unfair and entirely inaccurate. Mr. Mike was open and sincere in his reports and is deserving of utmost respect. To treat him otherwise is wrong.

And for now, that’s how I see it. This report is based on what I heard (or thought I heard) as I listened to Lan Lamphere’s “Overnight AM” internet talk show earlier this evening.

Australian Yowie Research

By Linda Martin – © 2009

Bigfoot Site of the DayDid you know there have been almost 10,000 sightings reported of Yowies in Australia? Yowies are the Australian version of Bigfoot. They say there are two varieties – tall and short. The tall Yowies are about 6 to 10 feet tall, and the shorter (and full grown) Yowies are 4 to 5 feet tall. Read more about Yowies and the history of Austalian Bigfoot sightings at What is a Yowie? and at Historical Yowie Articles.

The site has an extensive Multimedia Center with audio, art, and photographs. There is a section listing all their equipment and a series of Yowie expedition reports. There are also listings of sighting reports all through Australia, including this very recent one from September 15, 2009.

australian-yowie-researchThe site also lists sightings of a variety of cryptozoological creatures including big cats, Thylacine, Bunyip, Bigfoot, flying creatures, and more. A section on VietNam lists this very interesting article: Wildman in VietNam by Dao Van Tien.

When all is said and done, if you want to know more you might like to register at the Yowie Hunters Forum where you can connect with real Yowie hunters and find out what sightings they’re talking about now.

The Kentucky Bigfoot Sighting – Game Cam Picture

Was a Kentucky Bigfoot raiding some poor gardener’s veggie patch for a delicious midnight snack?

Kenny Mahoney wanted to know who or what was wrecking his plans for a productive garden, so he installed a game cam, which was a clever and good idea. The big surprise was finding a big black blurry blob of a possible primate caught in action in his game cam’s lens.

So everyone wants to know — is it a possible Bigfoot? Well, I hate to disappoint the excited public, but Bigfoot bloggers are skeptical, myself included.

I totally believe there are Bigfoot living in Kentucky… that’s not the issue. At issue is the extreme blurriness of the photograph. To me that says, “inconclusive.” I can’t verify that it is Bigfoot if I can’t see it, and just a shape isn’t enough. As Kenny Mahoney said in the video, “I don’t ever rule anything out but it is a real long shot.”

Kenny’s wife, Margaret, gave the photograph to a wildlife expert, who believes this thing has fur and isn’t a black plastic garbage bag in the wind. Bill Dranginis of Virginia Bigfoot Research thinks it could be a crow or raven taking flight. Personally I think the crows and ravens are more likely seedling thieves than Bigfoot, who would need more substantial roots and greens to survive.

I wasn’t even going to comment on this due to the blurriness of the inconclusive photo, but I’ve got three times the normal number of people coming to this blog for the last two days. This always happens when a Bigfoot story hits big media. So I’m giving you what you want… a comment.

My comment is that it could be a bird, a bear, a Bigfoot, a bag … hey, those all start with the letter B. Well, it is also Blurry as can be so I can’t form an opinion that would mean anything.

Seriously, if you’re curious about Bigfoot keep in mind that Bigfoot research is an awesome, fun hobby. You get to face the mysterious, the unknown, and conquer your fears. So if you’re curious enough to look for information on Google, maybe you’re curious enough to walk into the woods at the site of a recent Bigfoot encounter. What do you say to that?

For more information on Bigfoot research, see my recent article, How to Find Bigfoot.

And have a nice day.

The Bigfoot Information Project

Bigfoot Sign of the DayThe Bigfoot Information Project has good articles to read, podcasts, and resources. I believe this site is owned by the same webmaster who owns Bigfoot Forums.

There’s an interview with John Green by Gerry Matthews, in which you can find out how Green evaluates Bigfoot sighting reports and evidence, what he thinks of the BFRO Bigfoot sightings database, how he feels about the suppression of scientific Bigfoot information by the media, and what he thinks of the “Four Horsemen of Sasquatchery,” of which he is one.

Bigfoot Information Project
The articles are well-researched and informative, for example:
An Archaeological Viewpoint of the Hairy Man Pictographs by Kathy Moskowitz Strain;
Evaluating Purported Sasquatch Photographic Evidence by Alton Higgins;
and Letters In Response To “Bigfoot Believers” by Dmitri Bayanov.

Podcasts are found in the lower-right corner of the front page of the site. You can download audio files and listen to Rick Noll, Kathy Moskowitz Strain, and Scott Herriot.

Sasquatch Watch of Virginia

Bigfoot Site of the DayI spent the day getting to know Billy Willard and other members of Sasquatch Watch of Virginia by exploring their site, blog, photographs, and videos.

The front page of Sasquatch Watch of Virginia features a video of Billy Willard explaining the organization’s goals. Don’t miss it! I especially like that the site states, “Our friendly research methods do ‘not’ strive to harm or kill any wildlife. We seek to be cooperative and not hurtful to any person and to any public or private organizations.”

The Sasquatch Watch of Virginia Field Research Blog is rich with accounts of actual field investigations. I especially liked the analysis of unnatural stick structures near Bigfoot footprints, and the article about why they chose Autumn, the beagle, as their squatching dog. I’d love to read more about adventures with Autumn and other squatching expeditions in the wilds of Virginia!

This is a media-rich site with videos and a sound recording of a mysterious forest howl. There are slide shows hosted by Flickr showing Virginia scenery and Bigfoot “trace evidence” such as hair, footprints, and stick arrangements. The many photographs show Virginia as a state with miles of forest in which Sasquatches can hide and thrive.

Sasquatch Watch of VirginiaAssociated with the site is Sasquatch Watch Radio with Virginia hosts, Billy Willard and DB Donlon aka: Blogsquatcher.) On a recent show (August 17, 2009) they interviewed Bobbie Short of Bigfoot Encounters about her sightings and Bigfoot research. Phenomenal information with a great squatching lady and Bigfoot research enthusiast.

A site FAQ answers questions about Bigfoot authenticity and history. There are also links to the group’s forum, Yahoo group, and news feeds.

Sasquatch Watch of Virginia appears to be a motivated, experienced, and capable crew ready to respond to any recent Bigfoot sightings or encounters in the state of Virginia. I look forward to more Virginia Bigfoot adventure when I explore related sites later in the year.

Bigfoot Sightings – Now on Twitter

Follow Me on TwitterYes, Bigfoot Sightings now has a Twitter account. I know some of you have been following me on my other account, which I’ll now use just for writing and my work on Squidoo.Com.

If you’re not familiar with Twitter — well, let me tell you, it is a HOT web application meaning that lots of people are into it. Twitter is a microblogging site. 140 letters or spaces per tweet.

Check it out: http://twitter.com

I wanted a separate Twitter account for this site so I can have a place to network with people who are really interested in Bigfoot research. I want this Twitter account to be a space where I can write ONLY about Bigfoot related news and information.

Generally I follow back most people who follow me.
